Gene Johnson started his gymnastics career at Westminster High in CA, and then Golden West Jr. College. He moved on scholarship to Washington State University in Pullman, WA where he competed in AAU and NCAA meets, placing 3rd nationally on Rings for AAU in 1974. He graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1978. His first job was a large gymnastics club in the Bay Area, where he got the urge to open his own club. When circumstances brought he and his wife back to Pullman, they opened Gymnastics North in 1981. In 1987 they moved Gymnastics North to Lompoc, where they’ve offered two generations of students the fun of gymnastics. Gene is still the Head Coach, and Debra serves as Office Manager.
